Members

There are national bylaws and oftentimes, chapter bylaws that a potential member must agree to abide by. Most bylaws are centered around safety issues for riders and outline officer positions. Eligibility is based on women owning or and/or operating a motorcycle who possess a valid and lawful motorcycle riding endorsement or permit. Annual dues are paid to nationals and each chapter sets their own due amounts (some go without).

For every five riders, a chapter may include one nonrider as a member (up to three nonriders per chapter). Again, this depends on the local chapter bylaws.

Membership Privileges

Chapter members may wear a back patch with the Women in the Wind lady logo. Generally chapters designate a color for their particular group.

You also have voting rights at the national meetings. Chapter members are eligible to run for national offices, too.

Becoming a Chapter

Basic requirements of a new chapter is to make a request to the international president, vice president, treasurer and/or secretary. Include your proposed chapter name, a list of names and addresses of members (3 minimum), serve a minimum probation period of three months. You must also show proof of three meeting/rides. Probationary chapter members have associate member status.
